VIEW LATEST INFORMATION ON MEDICAID REDETERMINATIONS IN ILLINOIS
This past month, IAMHP continued our second quarter focus on Maternal Health. Each quarter this year, IAMHP will highlight a pillar that remains a priority for the Medicaid health plans and the state of Illinois. The Maternal Health crisis is an epidemic that needs to be addressed not only within the vulnerable populations we serve through the Medicaid program, but across the board.
Women of color, especially black women, have a 3-4 times higher chance of dying during childbirth, or due to a pregnancy related cause. Half of the births in Illinois are supported by the Medicaid program. Given the increase over time and persistent racial/ethnic disparities in maternal mortality in the United States, it is vital that we better understand the causes of and contributors to this public health crisis.
IAMHP is proud to partner with stakeholders who are making strides toward improving maternal health outcomes. Here are some highlights of the work they are doing in the maternal health space.
As always, be well and stay safe.
