Join IAMHP and Avesis for an important discussion about ways to leverage dentists, vision providers and third party administrators to help improve the health of Medicaid members by identifying and mitigating the impact of violence and other forms of trauma.
The American Psychological Association calls trauma “an emotional response to a terrible event. It can stem from collective experiences, or it can come from personal experiences, such as family violence or poverty. These personal experiences are frequently pointed to as Social Determinants of Health (SDoH) and they can include our physical environment, our access to healthcare, jobs, and education, and our place in the community.
Understanding the wide reach of trauma and its relationship to the SDoH is valuable for enrollees, practitioners, and health plans, as it can affect patient compliance, health outcomes, and care costs.
